Whilst waiting for a movie, we saw this promotion stand outside Citispa – Century Square. It was $38 for a facial, 1.5hrs. We had the time to spare, so thought we’ll give ourselves a treat and relax before the movie starts. The first facial was okay, we were impressed and the sales consultant managed to sell us the package at $380 for 10 sessions.
First few sessions were okay, not as good as the first one. Come to the 4th session, it was so difficult to get an appointment fixed. Every time I called, they say they’re fully booked for the next two months. Then I scheduled an appointment two months in advance. Two days before the appointment, I wasn’t sure if they were to be trusted, so I gave the manager a call. I was shocked when the manager told me that they do not have an appointment booked for me! After talking to the manager, she agreed to allow me to come down two days later.
On the day itself, I rang again, and this time, one of the customer service reps said they do not have my appointment on the schedule. I was furious, so I decided to visit the shop personally. I wasn’t happy and I made sure I stepped out of the door with the rest of the appointments all booked and the rest of the 4 treatments to be done in one day for two people.
Of course, naturally, they knew I wasn’t going to renew my commitment, so I guess the last 4 sessions were just to ‘finish the job’. They did basic cleansing, extraction, then left me on the bed for the next 1hr with the mask and it was over. Never again, Citispa!

So I finally tried the Kose Seikisho mask, the directions for use is to apply a thick even coat on clean skin and peel it off when dry. True enough, it’s a thick black paste, smells a bit alcohol-ish and you take about 10 minutes to apply.
Because it’s black, you can see the distribution and even it out. Can be a bit of a mess whilst applying, so make sure you have your hair all away from your face. It was okay until when it was completely dry and I had to remove the mask… I peeled it gently from the sides, was a bit of a torture, felt so dry that my skin hurt when peeling. I was actually worried about my skin for the first time using a mask!
Fortunately, when you get it off, you can feel the softness in your skin. I applied quite a thick coat on my skin, but when it dries, it eventually comes off like a thin rubber sheet. Overall, the experience was okay, but I still prefer the masks that comes in sheets. This peeling type can hurt really bad.

I have recently got my hands on some ginseng powder, costs me a fortune. Rather than mixing it to a ginseng drink, I made a mask out of it. Ingredients are:
- two tea-spoons of ginseng powder,
- crushed almond nuts powder, and
- just a bit of milk
You can use water if you like, I’ve tried it, same result. The almond part is a little hassle to prepare, you can also do without.
Apply the mixture over your face, let it cool, it will dry up. I turn up the air conditioner to speed this process up, once it dries, go to the sink, massage the residue all over your face and neck, then rinse off. No further cleansing is necessary, sleep through the night and you wake up with a fresh smooth face.
I highly recommend this for acne victims, the properties of ginseng helps to cool it down and prevent it from worsening. Would be best if you can prepare the mixture a few hours before application and apply it straight from the fridge later on.

Dry skin can be troubling and it can cause serious wrinkling. Before you invest in the most expensive yet unreliable hydrating facials and products, please try this home remedy to see if it works for you.
It worked for Korean Actress Song Hye Kyo! If you’ve exceptionally dry skin, do this every week or do this every fortnight if you have normal to dry skin. The ingredients you need are
Mix them all up and you have yourself a mask paste. Apply it and rinse it off after 20 minutes. Three basic ingredients, all of them found in a usual refrigerator, there’s no reason not to try!
I’ve tried this myself and although it has a milky smell and it made me feel like there’s food on my face, it really helps to hydrate my skin. It’s the best value DIY mask, so if you don’t mind the mess, try it. You can try this on your cheeks or forehead first…. Avoid the neck cause it can be drippy!

You saw the adverts of Laneige and Bio-essence on television. Not too long ago, everyone was going crazy over facial masks, those that comes in a sheet… it seems that the creamy type has gone obsolete.
Cosmetic giants are constantly thinking of ways to make their products useful 24/7 and some of them pioneers have already introduced the sleeping mask, one that you don’t have to wash off, it comes in a translucent liquid and you leave it on your face overnight.
Well, recently, I tried the Bio-Essence one (Hydra Spa Energy). Not great. When it gets dryer on the face, it becomes lumpy and it leaves a mess on your pillow. Not much to sacrifice if you’ve great results the next day, but it really doesn’t make a difference for me, at least. I still prefer a good old moisturiser. Overall, will not be tempted to try on any liquid sleeping mask.
